The OMS Scholarship and Judy Roger Memorial Scholarship
Application Process
PURPOSE: The goal of the OMS scholarships is to recognize student achievement in, and to encourage students to pursue, the study of mycology. Our intent is to award primarily to student researchers/graduates who are conducting research in mycology. A wide range of mycological subjects will be considered.
EXPECTATIONS: The award recipient will be expected to present a summary of the results of their project to the OMS membership within two years of receiving their award. Options for presenting to OMS are, but not limited to, a presentation to the OMS membership via zoom or in person or with a written article summarizing your results for our club newsletter. The award recipient must acknowledge OMS as a financial contributor in all articles and presentations produced in the course of the project for which the scholarship is awarded.
AWARDS:
- OMS Scholarships: Recipients will receive up to $2,500 each for exemplary research in the field of mycology.
- Judy Roger Memorial Scholarship: An additional $2,500 scholarship may be awarded in honor of a longtime OMS member who wished to support women who study mycology. This scholarship will prioritize female applicants.
JUDGING: Although applications are welcome at any time, all applications must be received by May 31st. The scholarship committee will review all applications and announce recipients by June 30th.
Winning applicants will be notified by e-mail or telephone.
Application Evaluation Criteria:
- Is the application complete?
- Does the application provide sufficient information to allow a decision to be made?
- Does the proposal and it’s scope seem reasonable?
