7:30 pm Presentation: How to Hunt Burn Morels: Tips & Tricks
If you’ve always been curious about hunting the burns, Trent and Kristen are going to share what
they’ve learned from their years of experience. They will reveal how to find morels in last year’s
burns by locating the right terrain, elevation, aspect, and forest types. Special attention will be given
to online maps and pre-foraging research. This year, with a little cooperation from Mother Nature
and the USFS, burn morels will find their way into your foraging baskets.
Speaker: Trent and Kristen Blizzard
Self-proclaimed modern foragers Trent and Kristen Blizzard reside in Cable, Wisconsin. They have been
trekking the forests of Colorado, the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest for years mostly with wild, edible mushrooms in mind. At first a hobby, the hunt for mushrooms quickly became nothing short of an obsession. They both are certified Wild Mushroom Identification Experts in Colorado, and a few other states. As “modern foragers”, they utilize digital mapping, social media, GPS, phone apps, and even satellite internet while on the road. Recently they’ve collaborated to author “Wild Mushrooms: A Cookbook and Foraging Guide”, that has a wealth of tips and tricks for harvesting and great recipes.
