The Pacific Northwest is home to the most majestic forests on Earth and, as a growing number of Northwesterners know, they contain a wide array of colorful, beautiful, bizarre, and edible mushrooms. However, not everyone realizes that, without these mushrooms, there would be no forests. Come hear why.

Steve Trudell is a renowned mycologist residing nearby in Washington state. He has been photographing and identifying mushrooms and studying their ecology for nearly 50 years. Steve serves on the editorial boards of several mycological publications, and frequently serves as foray mycologist or invited lecturer for mycological societies and other nature groups, including many OMS forays/mycocamps. He is the author of Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest, and co-author of Mushrooms of Alaska, Mushrooms of the National Forests in Alaska, and Tricholomas of North America.
