6:30 pm – OMS Mushroom Identification Session
If you have found mushrooms that are in good condition, wrap them in waxed paper, aluminum foil, or a put them in a paper bag and bring them (with a spore print, if possible). Bring your field guide to reference the mushrooms that are on display.

7:15 pm Presentation: Fusarium: The Fungal Chameleon in Agriculture, Medicine, and Industry.

Through Teddy Borland’s PhD work, she’s discovered the wild world of Fusarium and is excited to share it with all of you! Fusarium is a diverse genus of fungi that inhabit many different ecological niches. She will be giving an overview of the fascinating genus before diving into some of the research she’s been conducting to better understand Fusarium canker, an emerging disease of hop in the Pacific Northwest.

OMS 2023 Scholarship Winner - Theodora Borland

Speaker: Teddy Borland (2023 OMS Scholarship Recipient)

Teddy Borland is a PhD candidate at Oregon State University with Dr. David Gent. Before coming to OSU she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Botany from Colorado State University. For the last four and half years her research has focused on a fungal disease of hop called Fusarium canker and its primary causal agent, Fusarium sambucinum, investigating everything from management strategies for the disease to population-scale genomics investigations to mycotoxin analysis.
