6:30 pm Mushroom Identification Session. If you’ve found mushrooms that are in good condition, wrap them in waxed paper, aluminum foil, or put them in a paper bag and bring them (with a spore print, if possible). Bring your field guide to reference the mushrooms that are on display.

What are molds doing in your compost, your fridge, your medicine cabinet, and that wall in the closet?
Matt Trappe is the foray leader for the North American Truffling Society and author of the Field Guide to North American Truffles. Matt earned his MS and PhD at Oregon State University studying the effects of disturbances (such as fire) on fungal communities. He currently works with the Agricultural Research Service researching fungal diseases of grape vines. Matt is well known among western mushroom clubs and societies for sharing his knowledge in a humorous and visually intensive style that is understandable to beginners. His repertoire of presentations includes: basics of fungal ecology, fungal evolution, lichens, and forest ecosystems.
