6:30 pm – OMS Mushroom Identification Session
The identification session prior to the general meeting is open to the public. If you have found mushrooms that are in good condition, wrap them in waxed paper, aluminum foil, or a put them in a paper bag and bring them (with a spore print, if possible). Bring your field guide to reference the mushrooms that are on display.

Topic: What a difference 150 miles makes: a Seattle expat compares Washington and Oregon mushroom habitats.
Josh Powell has been an identifier, instructor and guide for the Puget Sound Mycological Society for the past eight years, and has recently made Portland home. He is currently at one of the world’s largest environmental remediation firms, clandestinely investigating how we might one day employ fungi in cleaning up oil and hazardous material spills. He is also designing a board game about mushrooms called Champ.
