MycoMatch Update Available

MycoMatch (MatchMaker) is a free computer program to help identify Pacific Northwest mushrooms. It’s the most complete Pacific Northwest mushroom guide, with:
- over 7,500 photos,
- over 2,750 species of gilled and non-gilled mushrooms from 270 different photographers, and
- over 4,700 species descriptions.
It includes a key where you can enter multiple mushroom characteristics at once (a synoptic key) instead of working your way through a sequence of binary steps.
Bonus features include a glossary, a quiz, and the ability to annotate the species descriptions.
The authors are Pacific Northwest Key Council members Ian Gibson, Danny Miller, Michael Beug, Noah Siegel, Drew Parker, and Bryce Kendrick.
MycoMatch was first available in 1999, and has been updated multiple times. MycoMatch recently released version 2.4.2 (completed November 2025).

The website says that there’s a beta native Mac version but that it doesn’t work well. Despite what the website says, I use that version on Mac’s with Intel processors. It works well for me, although it lacks all the bells and whistles of the PC version. To get the MAC version:
