OMS Fall Mushroom Show Follow-up
| At the OMS Fall Mushroom Show at the World Forestry Center last weekend, we saw a dazzling display of fungi in remarkably realistic settings. The seminars were well attended. The cultivation blocks sold out. Book sales were strong. The big hit of the show was the Black Light room, which was very popular. Many thanks to our dedicated members who collected the specimens despite dangerous storm conditions. It takes over 100 volunteers to produce an event like this, and the results were truly impressive. However… We received a number of reports from people experiencing gastrointestinal upsets after attending the Fall Mushroom Show on Sunday, October 26th. We take these reports seriously and are working with local health authorities and our food vendor to investigate the cause. If you attended the event and subsequently felt unwell, we encourage you to report your symptoms to the Multnomah County Health Department. They have an online form to report a food safety concern, or you can contact them by phone at 503-988-3400. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
