Advanced study group and microscopy: Not everyone hunts to fill the pan. Some folks, eternally curious, ask what's beneath that lens, and how do you know what you're looking at? Identifying mushrooms to exact species calls for looking at infinite details: spore structure, fibrils, contexts and gill physiology. Knowing how to use a microscope is the key to these mysteries. Our class is the second Monday of the month at the home of Judy Roger; meeting time is from 7 pm to 9:30 p.m. Due to room size and number of scopes, our class needs to be kept small: no more than 10 people. We are spending our time learning the nifty variety of structures that make up a mushroom. We study what is fruiting at the time so our material is fresh and we can identify things we are currently seeing! | home | |
