Spring & Fall Forays

Spring Foray 2003 - First mushroom hunt!
Foray Photos

2008 Spring Foray is May 16-18 at Suttle Lake Camp in the Cascades, 14 miles west of Sisters. Visit the camp website. The Foray registration form is available here.

2007 Fall Foray
was Oct. 26-28 at Camp Magruder near Rockaway on the Oregon Coast. Photos of the event are here. Comfortable lodging, excellent food, stimulating conversation, camaraderie, opportunity to gather, identify, photograph and learn about fungi edible and non-edible. And, of course, lots and lots and lots of fresh sea air. A guest mycologist was part of our day time gathering and evening programs.

What are Forays? With a field mycologist to teach, and lodgings for food and sleep, these forays are the best way to invest in learning about mushrooming.

Both beginners and experienced mushroomers gather Friday evening through Sunday afternoon to prowl the woods around a selected site. Fees are kept low so families and students can study the mushrooms of the season and realize the magnitude of the fungal world. And there are the evening contests and the fellowship...great fun!
